What we collect, why, and what happens to the phone numbers you bring with you.

Who is responsible

Huvian Technologies, of House No. 28, Commandos Street, Adenta, Accra · P.O. Box AK 113, Abokobi, Ghana, is the data controller for your account. Questions go to privacy@sende.com.gh.

Two different kinds of data

This matters, so it comes first. There is your data, where we decide how it is used, and there is your contacts’ data, where you decide and we act on your instructions.

For the phone numbers and names you upload, you are the controller and we are your processor. We use them to deliver the messages you send and for nothing else. We do not market to your contacts, do not sell them, and do not mix them into anyone else’s account. Whether you had the right to collect those numbers is your responsibility, not ours.

What we collect about you

  • Your phone number, and your email if you use email sign-in
  • Your name and the kind of organisation you told us about, if you told us
  • Your wallet balance, top-ups and the cost of each send
  • The messages you compose and the audiences you send them to
  • Delivery outcomes reported back by the network operators
  • Basic technical data such as IP address and device type, for security and fraud prevention

Why we are allowed to use it

To provide the service you asked for, to take payment, to meet legal and regulatory obligations in Ghana including record-keeping the network operators require, and to protect the service against fraud and abuse.

Who else sees it

We share only what each of these needs to do its job:

  • The network operators that deliver your SMS, which necessarily receive the recipient number and the message
  • Our payment processor, which handles your card or mobile money details directly. We never see or store your full payment details.
  • Our hosting and database providers, which store the data on our behalf under contract
  • A regulator, network operator or court where we are legally required to respond

We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing.

Where it is stored

Our database is hosted in the United Kingdom, and some providers process data outside Ghana. Where that happens we rely on contractual protections requiring a standard of care equivalent to Ghanaian law.

How long we keep it

Contacts stay until you delete them or close your account. Broadcast records and wallet history are kept for as long as the law and the network operators require us to be able to account for a send. Opt-out records are kept indefinitely on purpose: forgetting them would mean messaging someone who asked us to stop.

Your rights

Under the Data Protection Act 2012 you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to how we use it. Contacts and wallet history can be exported as CSV from the app at any time. Write to privacy@sende.com.gh and we will respond within the statutory period.

If one of your contacts asks us directly to remove their data, we will normally refer them to you as the controller, and will always honour an opt-out immediately.

Security

Access is restricted per account at the database level, so one customer cannot read another’s data. Sign-in is by one-time code, with no password to leak. Payment details never reach our servers. No system is perfect, and we will tell you promptly if a breach affects your data.

Complaints

Come to us first at privacy@sende.com.gh. If we cannot resolve it, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission of Ghana.
